Katie Hall – Teen Challenge Cambodia

Image28Pastor Jim Lowans, Director of Teen Challenge of the Four States in Neosho, Missouri, was asked in 2007 to go to Cambodia to explore opening a Teen Challenge center in that country. It was, and still is, a rescue effort on the part of those who love the Lord to literally save young boys from certain death due to drug addiction. Pastor Jim and his wife Kathie are very good friends of our family, and Jim spoke at Katie’s funeral. Upon hearing of Katie’s passionate desire one day to be a missionary to India, Jim and Kathie felt the Lord tell them that the center should be named “Katie Hall.”

The center was completed in the summer of 2008, and I was asked to come to the dedication on June 28th of that year. One of Katie’s future desires that she sharedwith me in a Daddy/Daughter Journal that we did together was for me to visit her one day in India. The reason she wrote this was so that I could see the world that she lived in and where she was serving God. I truly think that this trip to Cambodia was God’s way of making that dream a reality. I continue to get reports of young men’s lives being transformed and set free from drug addiction. The center is expanding rapidly and is looking to build additional housing. There is now new life in “Katie Hall,” as the men are giving their life to Christ. Katie so loved life, and our family is honored to be a part of this ministry.
